Allow Me.....
Okay. The economy still is not in a good place. You have a little side-line hobby. You make some terrific "widgets". Maybe you could sell them to people who like them too...only you know how to make them. Odyssey design could put a webpage together for you (with or without your own URL). Then, that little webpage could be advertised on your own business cards, with that link to your webpage on the business card. You give the cards out, people go to your site, they contact you because they like your widgets, and wish to buy some. What a deal!!!! That's what Odyssey Design helps you to do....get the word out about your widgets- pictures of them, the price, the colors, materials used to make them, and what they are used for (if it isn't obvious). If you like the widgets enough to make them....don't you think there are others who like them too? Thank about it. Promote! Promote! Promote!

Webquests
Good afternoon! It is time I write in my Odyssey Design blog again. I have been busy with a Webquest. What is a Webquest? As you might guess, it is a "quest performed in using the internet or World Wide Web as its resource...a quest to understand fully something you might wish to know about, or that you know others would benefit from the research. It is in an easy-to-read and understand format.
The topic of this Webquest is Borderline Personality Disorder. I have spent considerable time on this project, and update it sometimes several times within a day. Odyssey Design will do these Webquests, as part of the provided services. The complexity or simplicity of the Webquest will determine its price to you, the requestor. I have very much enjoyed doing this webquest, and business cards advertising it are being circulated among professionals, such as therapists, psychiatrists and social workers. I am rewarded by this exposure, and I am forturnate that it has reached so many different computers.

Enjoy the remaining days of August.

New Project - a Webquest !
Hello everyone! I have been working on a new project. I have been doing some research online, and have put together a Webquest on a mental health disorder for a couple of mental health professionals. The URL is as follows: www.alawebpages.com/od/bpd/bpd.htm This is not linked to either of my two websites, so you might bookmark it for future reference. Yes, the economy continues to s*ck, and business is slow. I am still making business cards, brochures as needed, emailing, record-keeping, and website work. Odyssey Design is still in operation. Have a good week. AmyLabels: Webquest by Odyssey Design
"As the World Turns...."

I apologize for my lack of attentiveness to this blog in the last several months. Our world has dramatically changed on the political and the financial fronts. To supplement my income I took two positions in "outside" employment. Well, "last hired, the first let go." And that is what happened. So, I have turned my attentions fully on expanding my services and marketing them fully through Odyssey Design's website. I have changed a lot of the look of the pages, and added more features. Check out http://www.alawebpages.com/od/specialties.htm and then go to
http://www.alawebpages.com/alawebs/ and http://www.alawebpages.com/od/tutoring.htm .
The largest demand that I am seeing repeatedly is the need for business cards, smaller webpages (just to get a "Mom & Pop" business 'up on the web'), and the need for older people to get some education on how to turn on a computer and use email to stay in the loop with family news. Maybe even have a "Facebook" or "MySpace" page. So, since there is a call for these things, I have sharpened my skills in these areas and am ready to meet your needs! Still in the Business .... !
Good Evening - it's been a long time. But I have been busy. Still learning. Still designing. Still blogging. Making business cards. Making webpages. Playing with music on websites. So glad that I formed Odyssey Design back in the Summer 2005. It has been such fun, and enabled me to continue to grow in my computer use. I have made a couple of brochures. I download sites, work on them, and upload them and admire my handiwork - but the object is to get paid for this, am I correct? My recent weight loss is not due to not being able to afford groceries. Just a lot of hard work. (spelled s-t-r-e-s-s ). Remember me when you need a quick project completed on the computer. Ble$$ing$, Amy
Momentum for Odyssey Design
Good Morning, this beautiful Fall day in the booming Metropolis of Indianapolis, Indiana. The last month has been spent prospecting via mailings, collecting databases, and talking-talking-talking to others about Odyssey Design's availability to assist them in their businesses. Our focus is still two-fold: creating web-pages for individuals, AND assisting/marketing/promoting small and/or entrepreneurial businesses in attaining their company's mission. Emailing me through my blog or website www.alawebpages.com is the most efficient manner of reaching me. As I say: "A presence on the internet is your best business foot forward, and says so much more than a 2.25"x4" business card!!!" (But Odyssey Design does those too!)
Car Wars
Good Saturday morning! A little update on Odyssey Design's transportation fiascos. On August 27th, our "new" Honda Civic was keyed, and is awaiting a repair. On August 30th, our Saturn was parked, re-ended, by a male driver in a residential neighborhood, with pouring rain, wide and winding streets. Car was pushed 20 feet, and totalled. After hours of internet searching, and visiting dealerships, the 1999 Saturn was replaced with a 2002 Saturn SC2-3. Beautiful car. Beautiful silver finish. Only 40k miles. The battle still rages with the insurance company of the guy who hit it. A very wide gap exists between what they are wanting to settle for, and all the costs we have incurred, including replacing the car. Odyssey Design has resumed normal functioning.
"A Legal Entity" - Odyssey Design
Good morning! I have been meeting myself coming and going, and have neglected my web-log for two weeks. Involved with a couple of entrepreneurial projects, my time has had to be parceled out to meet demands. I have received formal notification: The sole proprietorship of Odyssey Design has been recognized as such in the state of Indiana. A mailing to small businesses in a section of Indianapolis is being prepared. I am available via email through my websites, and this blog. Please contact me, and try my services. I will mail you a brochure and a small, useable "time-tool" for 2006 (as long as my supplies last).
Advertising Ad in Nuvo ! 8/10/05
Good morning this sunny Indianapolis morning! Well, Odyssey Design is now official. The ad went in the local Indianapolis alternative newspaper Nuvo on August 10th. Back page ad! Who-hoo!!! "Webpages-Pets/People" (etc). My part-time assistant and I have worked to assemble a database of small businesses in the immediate area to target a mailing offering marketing/design services. I have some "marketing giveaways" to those people who contact me via the internet or phone. My computer has gone through a 160-gig addition to the hard-drive storage. A counter and guestbook have been added to the www.alawebpages.com website. I have really enjoyed revisiting my dates of prospecting and setting up an office supply business as I did in 1988 for Publix Office Supplies. Odyssey Design is the new kid on the block, and wants to make friends !
It's Coming Together (Diary of a Webmaster)
My new website www.alawebpages.com has undergone some changes and improvements. This site has many pages that were updated and moved from my other website. I am working on a "Legacy Booklets" project within the Celebrations! branch of Odyssey Design.
Just a little about the business: The formal name is in the process of being legally recorded, and will be called 'Amy L. Allison DBA Odyssey Design'. My first batch of business cards (2 versions: 'Dream-Master' and 'Celebrations!') are being printed as I type this entry. Three (3) different brochures are also at the printer's. Primary contact will be made via the business card being distributed in a number of different ways. After phoning or emailing me - a brochure will be mailed to you. I plan to have an ad go into Nuvo on August 10th. I am trying to receive funding through Central Indiana Women's Business Center, which is a program of the Neighborhood Self-Employment Initiative. My thoughts are to hook-up with a Christian web-ring, and em exploring that avenue. The small business marketing aspect of Odyssey Design is www.alawebpages.com/od. The Celebrations! aspect of Odyssey Design is depicted in the following site: www.alawebpages.com/celebrations Any and all feedback is appreciated, as I am still formulating this new venture of mine. It is "you all out there" who make me who I am today.
New Website is Completed !
This is to announce that the new website has been completed ! It's URL is www.alawebpages.com. This site has pages that were updated and moved from my other website. This new site, "alawebpages", is for the Odyssey Design aspect of marketing and design for small businesses. Example sites of small businesses that I have created is within this new site. Also, the other part of the "alawebpages" website is Celebrations! The Celebrations! site was created to advertise web-pages for people and pets ~ living or in memoriam. There are online brochures for both Odyssey Design-Small Business Marketing AND Celebrations! You will find a multitude of pages with my pricing, specialties, examples, a mission statement, about blogs, discussion of marketing assistants, a coupon, references and more. You will view some samples of smaller web-pages that I have designed for people, with their permission, and used them to promote this business. Please come visit me at my new site. Let me know you were there. A Guest Book will be forthcoming.
"Celebrations!" is in the Making
Greetings everyone. I have returned from my trip East to be involved in a memorial event for my grandmother, who passed on April 29th. I have put all of my energies into my newest endeavor within Odyssey Design - and that is "Celebrations!" Please view the www.rebelodyssey.com/webdesign page, and click on "Celebrations!" This advertises my services of making webpages for loved ones, and celebrating or commemorating their life. This can also include pets ! I have links to a couple of examples of sites that I have completed "in memoriam" and "pets". I have further expanded on Webdesign and Marketing for Small Businesses - the first stage of my Odyssey Design business. I also have online brochures for both the Celebrations! (Celebrations! brochure) and the Small Businesses (Dream-Master brochure) ventures. All may be accessed from the above link. I am also looking into designing "Legacy Books". These are booklets that contain information and pictures about one's family - in which an older generation may wish to pass on down stories, events, legacies, and traditions to younger and future generations. This is in the very start-up stages. Please stay tuned to my blog. It will give you up-to-date information on all of these projects of Odyssey Design and me! ~ After all, I am your neighborhood computer specialist. I can do what you don't have the time or know-how to do yourself. Go to my websites - see for yourself. Enjoy the summertime.
Leavin' on a Jet Plane
Good morning. I am busy getting myself ready to leave for Virginia on June 7th, to return June 14th. The purpose of this trip is for a Celebration of the Life of Helen Doumas event on June 12th. My grandmother, Helen, died on April 29, 2005. Since family has to convene from all over the country, the celebration was postponed until June 12th. The following link will take you to the little webpage I have put together for her descendants. Helen lived a long and full life of 93 years. http://www.rebelodyssey.com/family/hcd.htm This is a sad time for myself and my family. I will resume the building of Odyssey Design upon my return to Indianapolis.
Updated Odyssey Design Website
Good morning ! This announcement is to inform you that the Odyssey Design Website [for the most part] www.rebelodyssey.com/webdesign has been updated in its entirety. A new design, a broader offering of services and some graphics have been added. I certainly appreciate the comments that I have received so far on the additions and improvements. I continue my HTML and Front Page classes to better prepare me for the web-deisgn that I have attempted, and succeeded in creating. I am forever grateful to Diana Ennen in Florida for the help that she has been to me. Her website is: www.virtualwordpublishing.com. Thank you again for visiting my blog. -ALA
"Gettin 'Er Done"
A long week of 'at the computer' has enabled me to update my Odyssey Design website. Networking and marketing were on my agenda, as well as adding new software and research, especially about the unreliability of Search Engines in producing reliable search results. Hmmm. This is not good news. I have faith that somehow the gurus and geeks will rectify the situation. It is a cloudy day in Indianapolis, Indiana, but that does not dampen my spirits. I continue to strive to hone and utilize my skills to successfully market for the small business. I like being a "small" entrepreneurship. That is where I intend to stay focused.
